Engaging entrance tunnels creates the first impression for guests. Known for their innovative ideas and signature tunnel installations, Majeda and her team from MY Event Design believe in the undeniable power of first impressions. According to Majeda, “the first impression of a space affects the perception of the rest of the event…and what better first impression is there – than tunnel entrances which transport guests into extraordinary experiences”.
The bespoke signature tunnels, built from scratch, bring clients’ stories to life.
Renowned for incredible installations such as the Eden Garden’s 3-in-1 tunnel portal, here are a few more examples of spectacular tunnels.
Train Station Wedding
How better to set the stage for a train station – turned wedding venue, than creating a train tunnel as the event’s first stop? Inspired by London’s Underground, a 12- meter long polycarbonate Lexan tunnel, emphasized by circular LED arches and special lighting effects funneled guests into the beginning of the wedding party. Beautifully suspended crystal decanters hung in a straight line above the black and white diamond pattered pathway with ‘Mind the Gap’ playfully written in bold font as a nod to modern-day train stations.
Thousands of lit candles and small chandeliers adorned either side of the tunnel, alongside floral ivory reefs and white peonies flowers, fusing a bit of romance and dreaminess into the otherwise contemporary installation.
Circus of Love
Step right up, step right up! Get ready for the amazing, the magnificent, the one and only…Circus of Love extravaganza! This engagement was as magical as a real life circus. The wonder, the glamor and the awe brought this couple’s wildest dreams to life.
A massively long ruby red carpet sprawled the length of the entrance all the way to the welcome area. Twelve large visual screens bordered with marquee lights illuminated the pathway, displaying moving vintage circus characters smiling down curiously at guests, stimulating the feeling of excitement one would expect at a spectacle. Nestled between the screens, infinite mirror partitions created a contemporary look adding contrast to the exceptional royal ambience of the vintage images.
La Dolce Vita
This sweet engagement had the mouthwatering, eye-widening, hunger-inducing symptoms a delectable dessert buffet tunnel would induce. Inspired by the Circus Of Life and the sweetness of true love, a ‘La Dolce Vita’ hanging sign, made from marquee lights, suspended above guests – introducing them to the sensory experience they were about to embark on. As guests walked past shimmering gold cake pops, red velvet bits, donuts and beautifully adorned cakes, they were mesmerized by the décor which followed a circus-inspired color scheme, blending red, white and black. To top of this enchanting experience, twelve hundred Amaryllis flowers dangled upside down, adding magic to the seemingly endless tunnel – guiding guests towards a visual screen with a looping video of the classic “circular twirl” –welcoming them into the hypnotizing world of “La Dolce Vita”.
As an ode to this wedding’s renaissance couple with love for the medieval era, Majeda and her team built a new take on a Renaissance-inspired tunnel installation creating a dramatic impact. Dangling gold leaves hung whimsically through Crystal Ottoman chandeliers held by Bordeaux fabric from the ceilings.
Black and white tiled prints, chosen from the renaissance period lined the long, seemingly endless pathway. Tall infinity mirrors were placed at a specific angle, giving guests moments of surprise and reflectiveness. Guests could see their own images paneled between layers of 3 tiered, low hung chandeliers – tied by dark dramatic flowers. Guests made their way through centered cocktail tables, boasting enchanting floral arrangements in gold vases. Pink and purple Anthurium flowers, red Peonies, dark purple Hydrangea and fuchsia Phalaenopsis composed the blooming creations atop the tables.
And as guests made their way through towards the end of the tunnel, they were met with a similarly renaissance printed tiled arch and a block of mirrors with gold appliques creating a stimulating illusionary experience, while serving as a picturesque backdrop for unforgettable and Instagram-worthy photos.
Little impacts a tunnel installation as much as infinity mirrors do. Placed on either side of the structure, their boundless effect creates a sense of grandeur and space that truly transports guests into an otherworldly experience.
For this botanical garden inspired theme, artificial green grass covered a tunnel pathway – visually stimulating guests as they imagined walking down great plains.
A sky of dreamlike pink tulips suspended upside down from the ceiling. Charmed golden chandeliers and crystals lit the spaces in the ceiling, above swings swaying with lush greenery, stunning flowers and pots of pink Cyclamen underneath.
Cocktail tables with mirror tops were placed in the center of the tunnel, reflecting the magnificent tulip installation and allowing for a fantastical entrance that transcended guests into the “Botanical Garden”.
